Am I the worst blogger ever? Probably…but I’m trying.

I’m finally looking in to getting a new car. I’ve driven my car to the point of death…almost. RIP Mustang. Little tidbit about me – I despise car shopping. DESPISE IT. I just want it to be over with and not have to deal with it for another 8 years or so.

This week was definitely the week of problems; at work and in real life. I have never been so excited to see a weekend; it’s even sunny! In lieu of sitting in the waiting area for almost 2 hours while my car got looked at I was able to get a nice run in. I have no idea what the distance was, but it felt good not to map it out and just run. Did the car folks think I was a weirdo for changing into running clothes in their bathroom? Definitely. Did I get a free car wash out of the deal? Definitely. All in all a successful trip.

Due to the sunshine making an appearance the past couple of weekends, Bryan and I have been able to get some hiking in. Not quite the hikes we do in the summer, but nice hiking nonetheless.

Yesterday, after a strength work out, we went to the beach and Bryan did some bouldering. I was bored…I don’t have climbing shoes yet. Pretty sure that’s what I am getting for my birthday. I buy myself all the pretty stuff and he buys me things I need : )

Now, off for a run before I see this little man…

Moving on…

Everyone should use “Boogle”. Its a Google search engine – with quotes! I have been using if for a few years and love it. I am inspired every time I go to search something (which is A LOT).

Once again, running is testing my patience. After a brillant 10 miler on Saturday my runs this week have been less than par. However, I would rather have my longer runs be awesome than the short stuff….

It also sounds like I will be getting a promotion in the next few months. I kind of feel like this

If anyone is looking for valuable information while reading this blog…close your window immediately. I figure, so many bloggers out there have much more in depth stuff to say than I do. I lace up my brightly colored shoes, run out the door, stop, stretch and roll (foam).

The truth is, I am not a wealth of knowledge. I have my BS in Psychology. If you want me to answer questions about why Freud is a hack – come at me boy (or lady).

Where in the world is Garmin San Diego?

Please tell me someone remembers playing the “Where in the World is Carmen San Diego” computer game. My favorite was always the blonde villian…I can’t remember her name though…Now that the pressing item is out of the way I can move on to the original subject of this post.

THE GARMIN

Yes or no?

Currently, I do not own a Garmin. The only time I use one is if I run with my sister. Honestly, I’m torn.

I think it’s a fantastic tool. There is no debate there. For me, it comes down to why I run. This is not to say I don’t love to push myself, go for PR’s, etc. I do. Without those little goals running gets stale, boring, and then we plateau (shudder).

The other side of me worries I will become dependent and base the success of every run on what this little watch says. I became really into running for mental reasons. It was the one thing that could clear my head and take my mind off all of the craziness in my life. Today, that statement still stands. I am never as clearheaded as when I return from a long run (knock on wood!). Cliche’ or not, it purges my soul of all of the icky feelings and intensifies the good ones.

I’ve been brought to tears out of sheer joy while on a run (do you have some crackers for all that cheese?). I’ve discovered so much about myself and what I’m capable of. I worry, with a Garmin, I will be so focused on pace and time the rest will dissipate.

Of course, you may say, why not just leave it at home? Type A personality people. I’m a perfectionist control freak.Once I go Garmin I may not come back. #runnerwhitegirlproblems

I will probably snag my sister for my long run this weekend and see how I like it. Could be dangerous…

I’ve never been a huge fan of St. Patrick’s Day. I don’t like beer or rowdy bars (can you say grandma?) However, I will say, the Sounder’s game was more fun than usual. Crazy soccer fans + St. Patty’s Day + a win = incredible energy.

Bryan will be sad to know he has been replaced by a much more cuddly man who lives in the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory.

I was a wimp and ran 10 miles on the TM yesterday. I made up for it today by running 4 easy miles with my sister in the rain/snow. Thank you for keeping me humble, Mother Nature.

Holy hail storm, Batman!

I went out for a nice 12 miler yesterday. It was a little breezy and rainy, but nothing a jacket and hat couldn’t fix.

Then a hailstorm/monsoon and heavy winds came, and luckily for me, I was running against it.

Lately, running has been therapy more than anything. All I want to do is run long and reflect. Things are going very well, I’m just having a hard time staying positive and keep looking at my glass as half empty when really, I have more blessings than I deserve. That, however, is a post for another day.
